Mandatory Retirement

Mandatory retirement is when a savings account holder disengages from employment upon attaining the age of 50 or retirement, whichever is later.

Benefits Available

A retiree in this category will be entitled to the balance in his/her RSA. This could be disbursed either as an Enbloc payment, provided the balance in the retiree’s account is not more than N550,000.00 or as a combination of Lump sum and Programmed Withdrawal payments or Lump sum and Annuity payments (purchased from an insurance company)

Requirements before Retirement

Six (6) months before retirement, submit the following documents:

  1. Official notice of retirement issued by your employer/Nigeria Police Force.
  2. Standard Notice of retirement (Click to Download Form)
  3. Evidence of any accrued pension rights/acknowledgment of indebtedness (if an employee in the private sector or a self-funded government organization), as well as any outstanding pension contribution.
  4. Last payslip or evidence of total annual remuneration.
  5. A document confirming that the retirement is in accordance with terms and conditions of employment.

Requirements on Retirement

The following documents will be required before payment is to be made:

  1. Completed Application Form.
  2. Retirement Letter
  3. One Passport Photograph
  4. Means of identification:- any of the following:
    • Valid Driver’s License
    • Valid International Passport
    • National Identification Card
    • Letter of Confirmation of Identity from his/her bank or notary public
  5. Bank account details:
    • Name of the bank.
    • Branch or location of the bank.
    • Account number d. Account name. e. Copy of account statement
  6. Birth Certificate or age declaration
  7. Signed Acceptance letter
  8. Filled Retirement Indemnity Form 
  9. Filled Programmed Withdrawal Agreement Form
